BMW CarPlay Not Working — Diagnosis & Repair
CarPlay that never appears, vanishes from the menu, or refuses to connect is almost always one of a handful of causes: a phone or cable problem, a software or configuration fault on the head unit, a failed update, or an underlying hardware fault. Guessing which is expensive; diagnosing it properly isn't.

Many CarPlay faults can be diagnosed and resolved remotely via JVS Remote Connect; others need bench or in-vehicle work at the Telford workshop. We'll tell you which after an initial assessment.
Frequently Asked Questions
My CarPlay disappeared after a software update — is that normal?
An interrupted or partial iDrive update can de-configure CarPlay. We can diagnose the update state and re-apply the activation where that's the cause.
Should I try a new cable first?
Yes — for wired CarPlay, a poor-quality or damaged cable is the most common simple cause, and phone-side settings (such as CarPlay restrictions or the phone's region settings) are worth checking too. If the basics check out, the car needs diagnosing.
Do you charge to diagnose it?
We charge a diagnostic assessment fee, which we confirm with you before starting. If the fault needs a fix, we quote before any repair work begins.
