BMW CarPlay Connection Problems
Intermittent CarPlay faults — dropping out mid-journey, connecting then losing audio, or hanging on 'connecting' — sit in that awkward space between phone, car software and wireless hardware. Each of those needs a different fix, and the only way to know which you have is to test the systems properly.

Is it usually the phone or the car?
Both are possible. Phone software updates have caused CarPlay issues, but so have vehicle Combox faults and failed updates. Proper diagnosis identifies which side the fault is on before anything is changed.
Can you fix wireless dropouts remotely?
Often yes — configuration and software causes can be addressed via JVS Remote Connect. Hardware faults need workshop attention, and we'll say so clearly if that's the finding.
Will updating iDrive fix it?
Sometimes, but an update is not a diagnosis. If the fault is hardware, an update won't fix it. We establish the cause first.
