Is Jono's Vehicle Solutions a main dealer?

No. We are an independent specialist. We use professional and manufacturer-level diagnostic and programming equipment such as BMW ISTA and Volkswagen Group ODIS, but we are not an authorised dealership and are not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer.

Where are you located and do you cover my area?

Our workshop is at Unit 23A, Trench Lock 3, Telford, Shropshire, TF1 5ST. We serve Telford, Shrewsbury and surrounding areas of Shropshire. Selected jobs may also be possible mobile — contact us with your location and requirements.

How do I book an appointment?

Why does proper diagnosis matter rather than just reading fault codes?

A fault code tells you which system flagged a problem — not why. Proper diagnosis follows manufacturer-level test plans, live data analysis and component testing to find the root cause. Simply deleting a code doesn't fix the vehicle; the fault will return.

How much does vehicle diagnostics cost in Telford?

Can an independent specialist really do what a BMW main dealer does?

For diagnostics, coding and software work, the key is the equipment and the knowledge. We use BMW ISTA and professional programming interfaces, which allows us to run the same manufacturer-level test plans and procedures. We're independent — not an authorised BMW dealer.

What is BMW coding and do I need it?

Coding configures control modules to your vehicle's specification — for example after replacing a module, adding a retrofit, or changing vehicle options. If you're replacing a control unit or retrofitting a feature, coding or programming is usually required.

Do you provide BMW servicing in Telford?

Yes — we carry out BMW and MINI servicing including CBS servicing (Condition Based Service) and service history updates where applicable.

Which vehicles do you cover under VW Group?

Do you do full wiring repairs or just diagnostics?

Both. We diagnose the fault — whether it's a broken or corroded wire, a high-resistance connection, a CAN/LIN bus problem or a module supply issue — and then repair it properly, including connector and terminal repairs.

My car battery keeps going flat. Can you find the cause?

Yes — parasitic battery drain investigation is a core service. We measure current draw systematically to isolate the circuit or module causing the drain, rather than just replacing the battery.

Can you help with water ingress causing electrical faults?

Yes. Water ingress into connectors, modules and wiring is a common cause of electrical problems on many vehicles, and we regularly trace and repair the resulting faults.

Can you diagnose BMW iDrive and infotainment faults?

Yes. BMW iDrive and head unit faults — blank or frozen screens, a rebooting iDrive, audio or navigation issues and MOST bus communication faults — are electrical and software problems we diagnose and repair from our Telford workshop using ISTA and electrical test equipment.

My BMW has a CAN bus fault or won't communicate with a module — can you help?

Yes. Loss of communication between a control module and the vehicle's CAN or LIN bus network is a core auto-electrical fault we investigate. Using oscilloscopes and manufacturer-level diagnostics we trace whether the fault is the module, the wiring, a connector or a network issue — rather than simply replacing the module.

What's the difference between diagnostics, coding and programming?

Diagnostics reads and analyses your vehicle's systems to find faults. Coding configures a module to your vehicle's specification. Programming (also called flashing) installs software onto a control unit. They're related but different jobs — our Programming & Coding page explains each in detail.

I've replaced a control module — does it need programming?

In most modern vehicles, yes. A replacement ECU or module usually needs programming or coding to the vehicle before it will work correctly. Contact us with your vehicle registration and the module replaced.

Is every function available for every vehicle?

No — what's possible depends on the vehicle, its modules and its software version. Send us your registration or VIN and your requirements and we'll confirm what's available for your vehicle.

What retrofits do you offer?

OEM-style and vehicle-specific upgrades such as infotainment upgrades, camera retrofits, parking system upgrades, lighting upgrades and feature activation — including the coding and programming retrofits need to integrate properly.

Will a retrofit work on my car?

It depends on your vehicle's specification and compatibility. Contact us with your registration and what you'd like, and we'll check what's possible before you commit to anything.

Do you service BMW and German vehicles to manufacturer schedules?

Yes. We follow manufacturer-specific servicing requirements — including BMW CBS servicing — alongside general servicing for all makes. Diagnostic-led servicing also means we spot developing faults early.

Do you do more than diagnostics?

Absolutely. JVS combines diagnostics with auto-electrical work, programming, coding, servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs — a complete technical service for your vehicle.

I don't know which service I need. What should I do?

Just contact us and describe the symptoms — what the vehicle is doing, when it happens, any warning messages and any previous work. We'll work out the right approach. You don't need a diagnosis before you call.

Another garage couldn't fix my problem. Is it worth contacting you?

Yes — difficult, intermittent and unusual faults that have defeated previous attempts are exactly the kind of work we take on, using manufacturer-level equipment and systematic fault finding.
